Borussia Dortmund will find out their opponents for the UEFA Europa League knockout round play-offs on Monday, with the draw set to take place at 13:00 CET.
24 teams remain in the hunt to win the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League, and 16 of those teams will be in action in the knockout round play-offs in February. Teams will take part in a two-legged play-off tie with a place in the round of 16 on the line. The draw for the knockout round play-offs will take place on Monday, and Borussia Dortmund can be drawn against one of the teams that finished second in their Europa League groups.
The teams that Borussia Dortmund can face in the UEFA Europa League knockout round play-offs are Napoli, Real Sociedad, Lazio, SC Braga, Olympiacos, Rangers, Real Betis and Dinamo Zagreb.
All eight teams have some very talented players in their ranks. And Marco Rose’s side will have to be at their best if they want to advance to the round of 16 of the Europa League.
The eight teams that finished second in their respective Europa League groups will be seeded for the round, and the teams that are dropping down from the Champions League will be unseeded. That means that Borussia Dortmund will play the first leg of their knockout round play-off at the Signal Iduna Park and the second leg away from home.
The first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout round play-offs will take place on 17 February, 2022. And the second leg will be held a week later. If Borussia Dortmund manage to progress to the round of 16, they will face one of the Europa League group winners.
