Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 1-1 draw vs VfL Bochum
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund suffered another blow in the Bundesliga title race as they were held to a 1-1 draw by a resilient VfL Bochum side on Saturday.
It was another frustrating afternoon in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund, who were held to a 1-1 draw by VfL Bochum in the Ruhr derby. Despite controlling the game right from the start and creating a host of big chances, the Black and Yellows needed an 85th minute equaliser from Julian Brandt to rescue a point against last season’s 2. Bundesliga champions.
Bochum defended deep and did not make too many attempts to hurt the Dortmund defence. But they were handed a gift in the first half as the referee awarded a penalty after Gregor Kobel fouled Christopher Antwi-Adjei inside the box. Sebastian Polter converted the spot-kick and Bochum defended really well to ensure that Erling Haaland and co. were left frustrated for the majority of the 90 minutes.
Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 1-1 draw against VfL Bochum.
Gregor Kobel (4/10)
Kobel had a moment of madness in the first half as he came off his line to try and clear the ball away ahead of Christopher Antwi-Adjei. But the Bochum winger was too quick and Kobel ended up fouling him inside the box. The decision to come out for the ball was a poor one from the Swiss goalkeeper, and it proved to be very costly for Borussia Dortmund.
