The draw for the UEFA Europa League Knockout Round Play-offs has been made and Borussia Dortmund will go up against Rangers FC.

Borussia Dortmund have been given a fascinating draw for the UEFA Europa League Knockout Round Play-offs, as they will take on Scottish giants Rangers FC. The two teams will clash in February with a place in the Europa League round of 16 on the line.

Borussia Dortmund were relegated to the UEFA Europa League after finishing third in their UEFA Champions League group. This is the club’s first appearance in the competition since the 2017/18 season, when they were eliminated in the round of 16. Rangers finished second in their Europa League group behind Olympique Lyonnais and are the defending Scottish Premiership champions. They are managed by former Netherlands international Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Since the teams that dropped down from the UEFA Champions League were unseeded for the draw, the first leg of the tie will be played at the Signal Iduna Park. The first leg will be held on February 17, with the second leg scheduled to take place a week later.

Borussia Dortmund and Rangers have faced off eight times in their history. The last time these two sides met was back in the 1999/00 season, when the Black and Yellows eliminated Rangers on penalties in the third round of the UEFA Cup. Gio Reyna’s father Claudio Reyna was part of the Rangers starting XI in that game.
