Donyell Malen: I can give a lot more to Borussia Dortmund
Donyell Malen is confident that he can give a lot more to Borussia Dortmund after a slow start to life in Germany.
Expectations were sky high when Borussia Dortmund spent 30 million euros to sign Donyell Malen in the summer transfer window. The Netherlands international arrived as an indirect replacement for Jadon Sancho, and there was hope that he would make an immediate impact. But it took him a while to get going, and he had to wait until November to score his first goal in the Bundesliga.
Opening his account in the Bundesliga definitely gave Malen a big confidence boost, as he has found the back of the net in each of his last four starts. And the forward believes that he is finally on the right track after a slow start to his BVB career. In an interview with SportBILD, Malen said:
"“I’m getting more and more comfortable, and I’ve also improved my work off the ball in recent weeks. I can tell that I am understanding the coach and his ideas better and better. I am sure that I can give a lot more to Borussia Dortmund.”"
Malen is slowly but surely showing the quality that prompted Borussia Dortmund to sign him in the summer. And the 22 year old has said that he is proud to play for the Black and Yellows.
"“I know I have qualities that can help me take Borussia Dortmund forward and I am proud to play for this club.”"
Malen’s performances also saw him earn praise from Sebastian Kehl recently, with the Borussia Dortmund head of players’ department saying that he is getting better and better with every passing game. And the hope in Dortmund will be that the former PSV Eindhoven and Arsenal forward will continue his development in the second half of the season.
Malen has five goals and two assists to his name in 22 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund so far this season.
