Gregor Kobel acknowledged that Borussia Dortmund were far from their best during their 3-0 win over Greuther Fürth on Wednesday, but was pleased that they were able to get the three points in the end.

Borussia Dortmund made their return to winning ways in the Bundesliga on Wednesday, as goals from Erling Haaland (x2) and Donyell Malen helped them claim a 3-0 win over bottom of the table Greuther Fürth. But despite the scoreline, the win was anything but straightforward for the Black and Yellows.

Borussia Dortmund looked lacklustre and seemed to be going through the motions at times. And had it not been for two late goals from Erling Haaland and Donyell Malen, Fürth could well have wrestled their way back into the game in the second half.

Gregor Kobel, who kept his first clean sheet in the Bundesliga since October on Wednesday, said after the game that it was important for Borussia Dortmund to get the win against Greuther Fürth. The Swiss shot stopper felt that getting the three points is all that matters at this stage of the season.

"“After the last two Bundesliga matches, it was important to get back to winning ways. We can certainly discuss the way we got it done, but in the end the three points are the most important thing. There are always games like this, Fürth sat very deep and then it’s not easy to get into the game and find your rhythm. In the end, we scored three goals and did so without conceding any.”"

Julian Brandt, who continued his good form and set up two of Borussia Dortmund’s three goals against Greuther Fürth, echoed Kobel’s sentiments and added that winning is the most important thing right now.

"“I think the most important thing right now, and until the end of the year is winning games,” Brandt told the Bundesliga after the game. “I don’t think it was a nice game, nor a good game from us. But it finished 3-0 and that’s the most important thing for me.”"

The win helped Borussia Dortmund stay six points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race. Marco Rose’s side are set to go up against Hertha Berlin this weekend in what will be their final game before the winter break.
