Marco Rose has said that he would welcome it if Dan-Axel Zagadou decides to stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the current season.

Dan-Axel Zagadou is facing an uncertain future at Borussia Dortmund, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. It remains to be seen whether the BVB bosses are planning to offer the defender a new contract or not. But Marco Rose has said that he would like to see Zagadou stay on at the club.

The Borussia Dortmund head coach heaped praise on Zagadou during his pre-match press conference on Friday and said that he sees the defender as an important part of the team.

"“I would very much welcome it if Daxo decides to stay on at Borussia Dortmund. He is a young, excellent central defender with very good ability. He is physically strong, has a lot of speed, has a good left foot. First and foremost, I hope that he stays healthy. I see him as a very important part of our team.”"

Zagadou only made his return to action last month after spending months on the sidelines due to a knee injury. But he has started in each of the last three games, playing 90 minutes in the Bundesliga matches against both VfL Bochum and Greuther Fürth.

Reports have claimed in recent weeks that Borussia Dortmund want to see whether Zagadou can stay fit for an extended period of time before making a decision on his future. The 22 year old said in July that he can imagine extending his contract with the Black and Yellows.

Zagadou has endured a difficult couple of years due to injuries. But he has shown his immense potential whenever he has played. And both the player and the club will be hoping that he does not have to deal with any more injury problems in the coming months.
