Marco Rose hints at uneventful January transfer window for Borussia Dortmund

Marco Rose does not expect Borussia Dortmund to be too active during the January transfer window, as they continue to deal with the financial impact of COVID-19.
The January transfer window is almost upon us and rumours are back in full swing. Marco Rose was asked about Borussia Dortmund’s plans for the transfer window during his pre-match press conference on Friday. And he said that the Black and Yellows are not expected to make too many moves next month.
The BVB head coach added that the most important thing right now is to focus on the financial well-being of the club. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive impact on the finances of football clubs. And with the current restrictions in place, Borussia Dortmund are only able to play in front of 15,000 supporters at the Signal Iduna Park.
"“I do believe that we need to work on the squad bit by bit,” Rose said. “But I don’t think the upcoming winter transfer window is the right time for that.”“We are allowed to play in front of only 15,000 spectators right now, which of course tears a big hole in our coffers. Accordingly, our plans are tight, not much will be possible.”“I can call Aki (Hans-Joachim Watzke) again. But all the signals I’ve received so far are: we have to look at the welfare of the club for now and plug a few holes.”"
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with moves for a number of players in recent weeks. They are leading the race to sign Karim Adeyemi, and a decision on his future is likely to be made in January even though the forward will not leave RB Salzburg until the summer.
Denis Zakaria is also said to be attracting the interest of Borussia Dortmund. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It is unlikely that BVB will look to make a move for him in the January transfer window unless they receive an offer for Axel Witsel.
Chelsea attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech is another player who has been mentioned in recent weeks. Although it remains to be seen if Chelsea would be willing to loan him out next month.
