Thomas Meunier (5.5/10)

Thomas Meunier’s performances over the course of the first half of the season showed that he is capable of being Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice right-back. On the whole, the Belgian international delivered much improved performances and caused a lot of problems on the right flank.

He made a total of 21 appearances and registered four assists, which is double the assists he managed last season. And his assist tally would have been even higher had Erling Haaland not gotten injured.

Despite his encouraging performances going forward, Meunier still struggled defensively in several games. He lost possession carelessly on a number of occasions. And that is something he will have to improve on in the second half of the season.

Raphael Guerreiro (6/10)

Raphael Guerreiro had a stop-start hinrunde and missed 14 of Borussia Dortmund’s 26 games due to various muscle injuries. He did make an encouraging start to the season and scored a couple of stunning goals in his first six Bundesliga appearances. But he wasn’t able to get in any rhythm after that thanks to his constant injury woes.

Hopefully, he can steer clear of injuries during the second half of the season. Because when Guerreiro is in form, there are few better left-backs in the world.
