Oliver Kahn on the Erling Haaland to Bayern Munich rumours: “We have Robert Lewandowski”
Oliver Kahn has become the latest Bayern Munich boss to deny claims that they could make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window.
Erling Haaland is being heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United among the clubs interested in his signature. Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Haaland in recent months. But their bosses have been quick to shut out the rumours in the last few days.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer recently ruled out a move for Haaland and said that they have the world’s best striker in Robert Lewandowski. Former Bayern goalkeeper and current CEO Oliver Kahn has now come out with a similar statement.
In an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung, Kahn said when asked about the Haaland rumours: “We have Robert Lewandowski. He’s still going to score 30-40 goals for a few more years”
Although Haaland is attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, Borussia Dortmund remain hopeful of keeping the striker at the club for at least another season. Mino Raiola also said last week that his client could stay at the Signal Iduna Park beyond the end of the current campaign.
The Borussia Dortmund bosses are set to hold talks with the Haaland camp in the coming weeks. And a final decision on the striker’s future will likely be made after those talks. Haaland has two and a half years left on his current contract with the Black and Yellows. He has scored 76 goals in 75 appearances since joining BVB from RB Salzburg in January 2020.
