As the Bundesliga takes a winter break, we take a look at how the Borussia Dortmund players fared during the first half of the season.
Borussia Dortmund’s first half of the season was hardly an ideal one. Their injury ravaged squad exited the UEFA Champions League at the group stage, and also ended the hinrunde nine points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings.
Erling Haaland and Marco Reus led the Borussia Dortmund attack once again during the first half of the season. New signing Donyell Malen made a slow start, while Reinier struggled to make an impact. Here we take a look at how the Borussia Dortmund forwards fared during the hinrunde.
Erling Haaland (8/10)
Erling Haaland continued to deliver at an extraordinary level over the course of the hinrunde. The Norwegian goal machine found the back of the net 19 times in just 16 appearances. And not only that, he also registered five assists.
Haaland delivered several match-winning performances for Borussia Dortmund during the first half of the season. He scored some stunning goals, broke several records, came up clutch on a number of occasions, and took his overall game to a whole new level. And the Black and Yellows sorely missed his presence in front of goal when he was sidelined for a two month period with a hip injury.
