Report: Borussia Dortmund among clubs interested in signing Yusuf Demir
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly in the race to sign highly rated winger Yusuf Demir, who is expected to leave FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.
Yusuf Demir only joined FC Barcelona in the summer on an initial loan deal from Austrian club Rapid Vienna. But the Spanish giants are already said to be looking to part ways with him. Reports in Spain claim that Barcelona would have to activate the mandatory purchase option to sign him on a permanent transfer if he makes one more appearance for the club. And so they are looking to terminate his loan spell in January.
According to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, Demir would like to make the switch to the German Bundesliga next. Three clubs are said to be interested in signing the Austrian international. The newspaper claims that Borussia Dortmund are leading the race for his signature, with Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg also interested. Rapid Vienna want a transfer fee of 10 million euros to part ways with the 18 year old.
This is not the first time Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Demir. The Black and Yellows were said to be interested in signing him before he made the switch to Barcelona last summer. At the moment, it remains to be seen if Dortmund’s interest in Demir is real or not.
Demir has made a total of nine appearances for Barcelona so far this season and has yet to open his account for them. Before making the switch to Spain, the talented winger scored nine goals in 38 games for Rapid Vienna.
