Borussia Dortmund have announced that Dan-Axel Zagadou has tested positive for Covid-19 while on vacation in Dubai.
Borussia Dortmund have received a big blow just ahead of their return to training, as it has been revealed that Dan-Axel Zagadou has tested positive for Covid-19. The Black and Yellows have announced that the defender returned a positive test for the virus while on vacation in Dubai. He is now in quarantine at his vacation spot and will miss the start of the second half of the season as a result.
The timing of Zagadou’s positive Covid-19 test is definitely not ideal for Borussia Dortmund, especially with Manuel Akanji still on his way back after undergoing a minor knee surgery last month. It remains to be seen at the moment if the Swiss international will be available to play next weekend.
The Borussia Dortmund players are due to return to the training ground for their Covid-19 tests and performance diagnostic tests on Monday. The first team training session will take place a day later. Marco Rose’s side are set to travel to Eintracht Frankfurt for their first game of the new year on Saturday.
There have been a number of Covid-19 cases in the Bundesliga in recent days, including five at Bayern Munich. And Borussia Dortmund will certainly be hoping that no more players or staff test positive for the virus in the coming days and weeks. The club revealed in November that all members of the first-team, U-23s squad and coaching staff are either 100% vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19.
