The Bundesliga makes its return this weekend and an exciting game awaits us on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund go up against the in-form Eintracht Frankfurt. Here are three talking points ahead of this eagerly awaited contest.

Which Borussia Dortmund side will turn up?

Borussia Dortmund were firmly breathing down Bayern Munich’s necks just four matchdays ago. But after a run of two defeats, one draw and just one win, the Black and Yellows find themselves nine points behind their title rivals.

Borussia Dortmund looked like a team bereft of any motivation, hunger, desire or confidence in their final three games of 2021, as they dropped points against VfL Bochum and Hertha Berlin. And their performance in the win over bottom of the table Greuther Fürth was also a pretty lacklustre one.

So it will be interesting to see which Borussia Dortmund side turns up against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

While Dortmund’s title hopes are now hanging by a thread, Marco Rose will know that they cannot afford to start the rückrunde on the back foot with a number of teams (including Eintracht Frankfurt) closing in on them. If they start the new year like they ended the last one, Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of finishing in the top four could be in serious trouble.
