Borussia Dortmund return to Bundesliga action this weekend and a tough away game awaits them against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Borussia Dortmund go up against Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend in what should be a cracking Bundesliga contest. Having lost significant ground to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race, the Black and Yellows now find themselves in a precarious position going into the first matchday of the new year.
A number of teams, including Eintracht Frankfurt, are closing in on Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga standings. And a poor start to the rückrunde could put Dortmund’s top four hopes in danger.
Eintracht Frankfurt are only behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga form table. They have won six of their last seven games in the Bundesliga, and have already claimed wins over the likes of Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg this season. Oliver Glasner has turned things around brilliantly after a poor start to the season. And the Eagles will be looking to keep their impressive run of form going after the winter break.
Unlike Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund ended the first half of the season in disappointing fashion. Dortmund dropped points in three of their last four Bundesliga games of 2021, and they now find themselves nine points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings. The hinrunde certainly didn’t go as planned for Marco Rose’s side. And they will be looking to find more consistency in their performances during the second half of the season.
