Borussia Dortmund set to sign highly rated defender Filippo Mane

Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of highly rated Italian central defender Filippo Mane, who will play for the U-19s team initially.

Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signing of their next promising young talent, with central defender Filippo Calixte Mane set to join the club from Italian side U.C. Sampdoria. The 16 year old will initially play for the U-19s team under head coach Mike Tullberg. According to WAZ, the BVB bosses believe that he has the potential to develop into a first-team player in the future.

Ruhr Nachrichten report that Filippo Calixte Mane will sign his Borussia Dortmund contract on Monday, and will take part in his first training session with the U-19s squad later in the day.

Mane has been a regular starter for the Sampdoria’s U-19s team this season. The towering defender has also won eight caps for the Italy U-17s team, having made his debut in August. He is considered to be one of the most promising young players in Italy. Now he will continue his development at Borussia Dortmund.

Mane will join a Borussia Dortmund U-19s squad that features some of the most talented young players in the world.

The likes of Bradley Fink, Julian Rijkhoff, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Nnamdi Collins, Göktan Gürpüz and Dennis Lütke-Frie have all been making plenty of waves this season with their performances for the U-19s. All these players and several others in the U-19s squad have the potential to break into the first team in the coming months and years.
