Sebastian Kehl is optimistic about Borussia Dortmund’s chances of keeping Erling Haaland at the club beyond the end of the season.

Erling Haaland continues to be linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with several big clubs across Europe interested in signing him. The Black and Yellows are keen on keeping him at the club as well, and reports have claimed that they are even willing to double his salary in a bid to convince him to stay.

Sebastian Kehl was asked about Erling Haaland’s future once again on Saturday, and said that he does not think Borussia Dortmund’s chances of keeping the striker at the club are ‘too bad’. The BVB head of players department added that there is no deadline for the Norwegian international’s future to be sorted, but they will hold talks with him and his agent soon.

In an interview with Sky ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Kehl said:

"“The plan is that when the time comes, we will get together and sit down at the table. But we are not going to announce when we will do that right now.”“What is clear, however, is that we are trying to achieve clarity. We’re trying to persuade Erling to continue to play for Dortmund, and I don’t think our chances are too bad.”"

Real Madrid are said to be leading the race to sign Haaland, while Manchester City have reportedly made him their number one target for the summer transfer window. FC Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the 21 year old in recent weeks.

Speculation regarding Erling Haaland’s future will likely continue in the coming weeks and months. Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they would like to keep him at the club, and they aren’t under any financial pressure to sell him either. But the final decision rests in the striker’s hands.
