Expected Borussia Dortmund lineup for SC Freiburg clash

Defenders: Thomas Meunier, Emre Can, Mats Hummels, Nico Schulz

Manuel Akanji is set to return to the Borussia Dortmund squad for the game against Freiburg. But it remains to be seen whether he will be able to play from the start. With two tricky away games coming up next week, it would be wise to not rush him back into the starting XI.

Emre Can started alongside Mats Hummels at centre-back against Eintracht Frankfurt. And he is expected to keep his place in the side ahead of Marin Pongracic, who has seemingly fallen out of favour in recent weeks.

Raphael Guerreiro’s likely absence could see Nico Schulz return to the starting XI. The former German international will start at left-back if Guerreiro is unable to feature, with Thomas Meunier on the opposite flank.
