Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen, who will be out of contract in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund are set to bolster their defence in the summer transfer window, and have been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent weeks. Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen has become the latest name to attract Dortmund’s interest. Both BILD and Sport1 claim that Dortmund are interested in signing him on a free transfer in the summer.

Sport1 add that a contract extension with Chelsea is not completely off the table, but is considered unlikely at the moment. While BILD report that signing Christensen will not be cheap for Borussia Dortmund, even on a free transfer. A number of other top clubs in Europe are also said to be interested in signing the 25 year old.

Christensen has made a total of 21 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season and has established himself as an important player for Thomas Tuchel’s side. The Denmark international also has Bundesliga experience under his belt, having spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach before making his breakthrough at Chelsea.

Christensen is not the only centre-back Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on. The Black and Yellows have also been linked with moves for SC Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck and VfB Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos over the last few months.
