Defenders: Marius Wolf, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro

Borussia Dortmund will be forced into making at least one change to their back four on Tuesday, with Emre Can sidelined due to a muscle injury. Manuel Akanji is likely to replace Can at centre-back. Marin Pongracic and Axel Witsel are the other possible options available to Marco Rose if Akanji is not ready to play from the start yet following his recent knee surgery.

Marius Wolf could also come into the starting XI with Thomas Meunier a doubt after suffering a knock in the game against SC Freiburg. It does not make much sense to rush Meunier back with a tough game against Hoffenheim coming up this weekend. Wolf is more than capable of getting the job done against St. Pauli.

Mats Hummels will start as the other centre-back. While Raphael Guerreiro is expected to play at left-back. Nico Schulz could replace the Portuguese international if Rose decides to rotate his team.
