Borussia Dortmund claimed a hard fought win over TSG Hoffenheim to move within three points of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings.

A hat-trick of assists from Donyell Malen helped Borussia Dortmund get the better of TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. The Netherlands international set up goals for Erling Haaland and Marco Reus, before forcing an own goal to help the Black and Yellows earn a 3-2 win.

Hoffenheim were the dominant team for large parts of the game. But Borussia Dortmund were simply more clinical in front of goal. They were helped by some astute tactical changes from Marco Rose, who switched the formation to a back three in the second half which proved to be decisive in seeing out the win.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 3-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim.

Gregor Kobel (7/10)

Kobel made a couple of vital saves for his side to ensure that Hoffenheim weren’t able to make the most of their dominance. He did not have much of a chance with the two Hoffenheim goals, and also had the woodwork to thank twice in the first half. But he was on his game once again against his former club.
