Marius Wolf (4/10)

Wolf had a difficult first half against the dangerous David Raum and Andrej Kramaric. He left Kramaric with too much space at the far post for Hoffenheim’s equaliser. And he gave the ball away cheaply early in the second half, which nearly resulted in a goal for the home side. He was taken off less than ten minutes later.

Manuel Akanji (8.5/10)

Akanji helped spur Borussia Dortmund on to victory with another excellent defensive performance. He came to his side’s rescue on a number of occasions over the course of the game. He was alert at all times and made a number of last-ditch recoveries. The Swiss centre-back was forced off in the 82nd minute, but hopefully his substitution was more of a precaution than anything else.

Mats Hummels (5/10)

Hummels had a difficult time against the pacy Hoffenheim forwards and came out second best in a number of his duels. He did start the move that led to Dortmund’s second goal with a well placed forward pass to Erling Haaland.

Raphael Guerreiro (6.5/10)

Guerreiro struggled against Ilhas Bebou in the first half but looked a lot more comfortable after the break. He also made a number of dangerous forward runs and played his part in setting up two of Dortmund’s three goals.
