Donyell Malen (9/10)

Malen stepped up when Borussia Dortmund needed him and set up all three goals with some lovely play down the left wing and through the middle. He hardly put a foot wrong and caused all sorts of problems to the Hoffenheim defenders. Hopefully, he can build on this performance after the international break.

Marco Reus (7/10)

Reus finally ended his goal drought with a well taken finish in the second half. The goal came at a vital time for Borussia Dortmund, who were well under the cosh at that point. He was a bit slow in closing down Ilhas Bebou before Hoffenheim’s equaliser. But other than that, he performed his defensive duties really well.

Erling Haaland (6/10)

Haaland opened the scoring with a tap-in and then twisted his knee which bothered him for the rest of the first half. He carried on until the 63rd minute, when a groin injury forced him to come off.

Dan-Axel Zagadou (6/10)

Zagadou had a few problems against Rutter, but managed to help his side see out the win in the end.

Thorgan Hazard (6/10)

Hazard played at right wing-back and helped force the own goal which proved to be the winner.

Axel Witsel (5/10)

Witsel replaced Erling Haaland and played slightly higher up the pitch. Most of his attempts to make an impact in the final third proved to be harmless.
