Borussia Dortmund have given an initial update on Erling Haaland’s injury status after the striker was forced off in the win over TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund received a big scare during their 3-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday as Erling Haaland was forced to come off after suffering what looked like an adductor injury. The Black and Yellows have now released an initial update on the striker’s injury, confirming after detailed examinations that he is suffering from muscular problems.
The club’s statement adds that Haaland will require treatment on his injury and will undergo further examinations in the coming days. But an exact diagnosis of his injury has not yet been provided. It is also unclear how long he will be out for.
Haaland has scored 23 goals in just 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions so far this season. And the hope at the club will be that this injury will not keep him out for too long.
Borussia Dortmund have a number of big games coming up next month, including both legs of their UEFA Europa League knockout round playoff tie against Rangers. Marco Rose’s side have two weeks off with no Bundesliga games scheduled for this weekend.
Borussia Dortmund will take on third placed Bayer Leverkusen on February 06 in their next competitive game.
Manuel Akanji and Thomas Meunier are expected to be available for that game despite their recent injury scares. Meunier missed the Hoffenheim game on Saturday due to muscular problems, while Akanji was forced off in the second half. But Kicker revealed on Sunday that the duo have been given the all clear.
