Borussia Dortmund would like to extend Raphael Guerreiro’s contract, with the full-back’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

Raphael Guerreiro has established himself as one of the best left-backs in world football, and is one of Borussia Dortmund’s most important players even though he has struggled with a number of injury problems this season. The Portuguese international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund are keen on extending Guerreiro’s contract despite his recent susceptibility to injuries, and they have already indicated that to his team. The newspaper adds that the 28 year old feels very comfortable in Dortmund. However, at the moment it remains to be seen what his plans are for the future. Guerreiro did say last year that he hopes to stay at Borussia Dortmund for many years to come.

Guerreiro joined Borussia Dortmund from French club FC Lorient in 2016. He has made a total of 176 appearances for the Black and Yellows, scoring 32 goals and providing 34 assists. He came close to joining Paris St. Germain in 2019, but eventually signed a contract extension with Der BVB.

Guerreiro has three goals and two assists to his name in 12 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
