Borussia Dortmund were dealt a tough blow at home as they suffered a catastrophic 2-5 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen

Football returned to the city of Dortmund after a two-week international break. Borussia Dortmund hosted Bayer Leverkusen on matchday 21 of the Bundesliga while sitting on second place behind league leaders Bayern Munich. But a disappointing performance from the Black and Yellows saw them lose further ground in the title race as they were handed a crushing 5-2 defeat by Bayer Leverkusen.

Marco Rose and his men could not find a way to crack the Leverkusen side, who hurt Dortmund on the counter attack time and time again. Many questions will now arise and those in charge will also be under a lot of pressure with the season going astray.

Here are our Borussia Dortmund player ratings from their 5-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Gregor Kobel (5/10)

As has happened in many games before this one, Gregor Kobel was severely punished by the opposition. Dortmund’s defensive errors facilitated the job of Leverkusen’s attackers, thus granting them the opportunity to score five times. With the exception of a few saves here and there, Kobel wasn’t able to do much to prevent the rout.
