Marco Reus: Erling Haaland has everything he needs at Borussia Dortmund
By Tushar Bahl
Marco Reus has said that he would advise Erling Haaland to stay at Borussia Dortmund, as the striker has everything that he needs at the club.
Speculation regarding Erling Haaland’s future has been dominating headlines in recent months with several of Europe’s top clubs interested in signing him at the end of the season. Borussia Dortmund are also determined to keep the striker at the club for at least another year. And Marco Reus believes that the Norwegian international should stay in Dortmund, as he can play in the UEFA Champions League, score lots of goals and feel highly valued at the club.
Asked by BILD about what advice he would give to Erling Haaland as he looks to make a decision on his future, Marco Reus said:
"“I would say, ‘Stay with us, here you have everything you need to keep developing.’ Here he can play in the Champions League, score goals, and feel valued to the maximum.”"
Reus also believes that Haaland has to decide his future based on what feels best for him. But the Borussia Dortmund captain is confident that if the 21 year old does decide to leave in the summer, the club will find a way to replace him.
"“He ultimately has to decide what feels best for him. It would be a great shame if he decided to leave, but even then things would continue and we would find solutions again as a collective.”"
Haaland has scored 80 goals in just 79 appearances since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020. So replacing him certainly won’t be an easy task for the Black and Yellows, if he does decide to leave in the summer.
Real Madrid are said to be leading the race for Haaland’s signature, with Manchester City, Barcelona and Manchester United also interested. The BVB bosses are set to hold meetings with the striker in the coming weeks as they look to find some clarity on his future.
