Raphael Guerreiro has said that he feels very comfortable at Borussia Dortmund, and would be willing to extend his contract at the club.

Raphael Guerreiro has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers over the last few years, but his current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season. It was reported last month that the BVB bosses would like to extend Guerreiro’s contract, and the left-back has now said that he is keen to hold talks with the club over a new deal.

In an interview with Sport1, Guerreiro said that he loves Borussia Dortmund and the contract situation is not a priority for him at the moment.

"“Those responsible and I will talk to each other in due course. That hasn’t happened yet. There have only been loose talks, but nothing concrete yet. I would definitely be willing, because I feel very comfortable here.”“I love this club very much, everyone knows that. But we have to come to an agreement in the end. Right now I want to focus on the remaining games this season. I am not in a hurry. My contract situation is not a priority.”"

Guerreiro joined Borussia Dortmund from French club FC Lorient in 2016, and has established himself as one of the world’s best left-backs over the years. The 28 year old came close to joining Paris St. Germain in 2019, but eventually decided to stay in Dortmund. He has been one of the Black and Yellows’ most important players since then.

Raphael Guerreiro: Niklas Süle will strengthen our defence

The contracts of Manuel Akanji (June 2023) and Dan-Axel Zagadou (June 2022) are also set to expire in the near future. And Guerreiro hopes that the duo will stay on at Borussia Dortmund.

"“Manu and Daxo are two cornerstones who have been around for a long time. They have to decide for themselves in the end what they want. I really hope for our group that they stay with us.”"

And Guerreiro is also looking forward to the arrival of Niklas Süle, who will join Borussia Dortmund  from Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer.

"“I’m very much looking forward to Niklas Süle strengthening our defence from this summer. His experience will certainly benefit us,” Guerreiro said."

But there is still plenty of football left to be played before Süle completes his move to Borussia Dortmund. And Guerreiro is determined to finish the season by winning the UEFA Europa League.
