Michael Zorc confirms Borussia Dortmund want to extend Dan-Axel Zagadou’s contract
Michael Zorc has confirmed that Borussia Dortmund would like to extend Dan-Axel Zagadou’s contract beyond the end of the current season.
Dan-Axel Zagadou’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the season, and sporting director Michael Zorc has now given the clearest indication yet that he will stay on at the club. In an interview with Sky Sport, Zorc confirmed that the Black and Yellows would like to extend Zagadou’s contract.
"“Dan-Axel has had a lot of bad luck with injuries,” Zorc said. “But we would like to see him stay with us and we hope that he can bring to the pitch the top potential that we see in him.” “Talks are ongoing,” he added."
Zagadou is rated very highly at Borussia Dortmund, but has had to deal with a number of injury problems in recent seasons. Marco Rose said in December that Zagadou has the potential to be a regular starter at the club for years to come. And he also said that he would welcome it if the 22 year old stayed in Dortmund beyond the end of the current season.
Zagadou has also indicated in the past that he would be willing to sign a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund. The former Paris St. Germain youth team player has also been linked with a few English Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, in recent weeks. But the chances of him leaving appear to be slim at the moment.
Zagadou missed the first three months of the season as he recovered from his knee surgery. But he has featured fairly regularly since making his return to action in November. The defender has made a total of 13 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund so far this season.
