Manuel Akanji (6/10)

Akanji was asked to play at right-back and did a fairly solid job of it. The Swiss international made some good forward runs without ever looking dangerous. He also performed his defensive duties well for the most part.

Mats Hummels (7/10)

Hummels kept things very tight at the back to help Borussia Dortmund earn a vital clean sheet. He made several key recoveries for his side and defended with great composure.

Dan-Axel Zagadou (7/10)

Zagadou showed why he deserves a new contract with a solid showing against the dangerous Taiwo Awoniyi. He led the way in terms of clearances (6) and tackles won (3), and also played some intelligent long balls.

Raphael Guerreiro (7/10)

Guerreiro put in a much more disciplined performance and kept his concentration at all times. He thwarted a few Union Berlin attacks and positioned himself really well. And he was rewarded for his hard work with a goal that ensured that Borussia Dortmund came away with the three points.
