Borussia Dortmund and Rangers face off in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie on Thursday.
European football returns to the Signal Iduna Park this week as Borussia Dortmund host Rangers in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie.
Having been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in December, the Black and Yellows will now see the Europa League as their best chance of winning any silverware this season. But first they must overcome the challenge of Rangers, who are more than capable of causing an upset.
Dortmund will once again be without Erling Haaland, who has already missed the last two games with a muscle injury. Marius Wolf is also sidelined, as is Emre Can who is suspended after being sent off against Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Gio Reyna is likely to return to the squad after missing the Union Berlin game due to illness.
Rangers will have to make do without Ianis Hagi, Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Nnamdi Ofoborh. Aaron Ramsey could be in line to start, having joined Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side from Juventus on transfer deadline day. Alfredo Morelos will lead the line for Rangers, while former Freiburg player Ryan Kent could also have a key role to play.
