Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested in signing highly rated French striker Hugo Ekitike
Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a move for Hugo Ekitike, with the talented French striker reportedly on their list of potential Erling Haaland replacements.
Transfer rumours involving Borussia Dortmund have been in full swing in recent weeks, with the Black and Yellows eyeing reinforcements for the summer transfer window. With Erling Haaland’s future still uncertain, Dortmund are looking at potential options to replace him. And BILD claim that one player who is attracting their interest is Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
The 19 year old was linked with a move to Dortmund in January as well, and he came close to joining Newcastle United on transfer deadline day. But he turned down the move and decided to stay with Reims until the end of the season. And he could now come into focus at Borussia Dortmund.
Ekitike is enjoying an impressive breakthrough campaign in France, and has ten goals to his name in 23 appearances for Reims so far this season. In addition to Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle, Chelsea, Paris St. Germain and Manchester United are also said to be interesting in signing the striker. It remains to be seen how concrete Dortmund’s interest is in signing him.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks, including Patrik Schick, Sebastien Haller and Darwin Núñez.
But Dortmund’s main priority remains to convince Erling Haaland to stay at the club for at least another season, amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester City. If Haaland decides to leave, the BVB bosses will look to bring in another striker in the summer.
