Erling Haaland back in training as he closes in on his comeback
Erling Haaland took the next big step towards his comeback from injury on Wednesday, as he made his return to team training.
Erling Haaland could be closing in on his return from injury after he was able to take part in parts of team training on Wednesday. The Borussia Dortmund striker has missed each of the last two games, and Marco Rose also confirmed that he will be unavailable for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie against Rangers.
But if he continues his progress in the coming days, Haaland could well make his return to the squad for Sunday’s home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Haaland suffered a muscle injury during Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim before the January international break.
Haaland has scored 23 goals in just 20 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season. And his return to action will certainly be a big boost for the Black and Yellows, as they look to compete in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League this season.
Borussia Dortmund are set to host Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Sunday, before traveling to Glasgow to take on Rangers in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League tie next week.
In addition to Haaland, Thomas Meunier and Marius Wolf are also sidelined at the moment. They are set to miss the first leg of the Rangers tie, and it remains to be seen if they will be fit in time for Sunday’s game against Gladbach.
