Midfielders: Mahmoud Dahoud, Jude Bellingham, Julian Brandt

It will be interesting to see if Marco Rose decides to change the team’s formation for Sunday’s game. Axel Witsel and Mahmoud Dahoud started in defensive midfield on Thursday but failed to help Dortmund gain a foothold on the game.

So we may see the return of the 4-3-3 formation, which would also allow both Jude Bellingham and Julian Brandt to play in a more natural role.

Witsel could drop to the bench, with Dahoud starting as the lone number six. And Bellingham and Brandt could then play in the dual number eight role, as they did to good effect earlier in the season.

While Borussia Dortmund do tend to leave a few gaps in defensive midfield when playing in this formation, it is much better suited to the players they have available at the moment.
