Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that he expects Erling Haaland’s future to be resolved in the next six weeks at the latest.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Erling Haaland’s future in recent months, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs battling it out for his signature. Real Madrid are said to be leading the race, while the likes of Manchester City, FC Barcelona and Paris St. Germain are also interested in signing the Norwegian international.

Borussia Dortmund have also made it clear that they want Haaland to stay at the club for at least another season. And now Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that the striker’s future should be resolved in the next 4-6 weeks.

"In an interview with RTL, the BVB CEO said: “It (Haaland’s future) will certainly be resolved in the next few weeks, maybe a month, maybe six weeks.”"

Ruhr Nachrichten reported last month that Real Madrid want Haaland to stay at Borussia Dortmund for another season as they would prefer to sign him in 2023. The 21 year old has kept his cards close to his chest, and it remains to be seen what his plans are beyond the end of the season.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to make sure that they are prepared for all possibilities, and Watzke is confident that they will find another striker to replace Haaland if he decides to leave in the summer transfer window.

"“If he decides to leave, we will deal with it the way we always have. We have lost a few goal scorers in the past: Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We will find someone new again”"

Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020, and has scored 80 goals in just 79 appearances for the club. He still has two and a half years left on his BVB contract. He is currently sidelined with a muscle injury.
