Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering making a move for Chelsea striker Timo Werner, although no concrete talks have taken place as of yet.

An interesting rumour appears to be doing the rounds, with Sky Germany claiming that Borussia Dortmund are considering signing Chelsea striker Timo Werner. While Dortmund are thinking about signing Werner, the report does claim that there have been no concrete negotiations between the two parties so far.

Sky also add that Chelsea aren’t necessarily looking to sell Timo Werner, but they would be willing to talk if they receive an offer.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to bolster their attack, and there will also be a need for a new striker if Erling Haaland decides to leave the club in the summer. But it remains to be seen just how serious their interest is in Werner, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for a fee of 50 million euros in 2020.

Werner’s wages would be another sticking point in any potential move. According to Sky Sport, the German international earns an annual salary of 16 million euros at Chelsea. That is more than what even Borussia Dortmund’s highest paid players earn.

Werner has made 23 appearances so far this season for Chelsea, and has six goals and two assists to his name. The 25 year old scored 91 goals in 222 Bundesliga appearances before his move to Chelsea.
