Sebastian Kehl and Lars Ricken both expect the highly rated Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to be a part of Borussia Dortmund’s first-team plans for next season.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens delivered a stunning performance for the Borussia Dortmund U-19s on Tuesday evening as he helped them beat Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League round of 16. The former Manchester City youth team prospect scored both of Dortmund’s goals, before netting the winning penalty.

Bynoe-Gittens is one of the most exciting young talents in the Borussia Dortmund youth team ranks at the moment. And he could earn himself a place in the BVB first-team before long.

Borussia Dortmund director of youth performance centre Lars Ricken revealed on Wednesday that first-team head coach Marco Rose already has Bynoe-Gittens on his radar. He also added that he does not expect the 17 year old to play for the U-19s next season.

"“To compete in a high-profile competition, you need players of his quality. We know Marco Rose has him on his radar. I don’t expect him to play for the U19s next year.”"

Incoming Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl also praised the development of Bynoe-Gittens, and said that he will play a role in the first-team plans for the upcoming season.

"“Jamie’s development has been really good,” Kehl told Kicker. “Of course he plays a role in our first-team plans for next season.”"

Bynoe-Gittens got his maiden first-team opportunity during pre-season, but suffered an ankle ligament injury on his debut. The injury kept him out for a couple of months, but he has been in excellent form for the BVB U-19s since his return. The winger has nine goals and two assists to his name in just nine appearances across all competitions.

Bynoe-Gittens showed the immense quality he has against Manchester United on Tuesday. And if he keeps performing like that in the coming weeks, that first-team call-up will not be too far away.
