Marco Rose: Erling Haaland feeling good ahead of his long awaited return to action
Erling Haaland is closing in on his comeback from injury, and Marco Rose has said that the striker is in a good mood ahead of his long-awaited return to action.
Borussia Dortmund are set to welcome Erling Haaland back into the squad on Sunday. The Norwegian international has been training with the team all week long, and he could start on the bench as BVB take on Arminia Bielefeld this weekend.
Haaland has endured a difficult time due to injuries this season, and has been forced to miss a number of big games for Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. But he is finally pain-free and is now gearing up for his return.
Marco Rose said during his pre-match press conference on Friday that the striker is in a very good mood ahead of his comeback. But he added that Haaland is not ready to play from the start just yet. “He is now pain-free and that makes him happy. He’s in a very good mood right now and seems focused,” Rose said.
Despite being limited to just 20 appearances so far this season, Haaland is still Borussia Dortmund’s top scorer with 23 goals to his name. He will have his sights set on reaching the 30 goal mark before the end of the season.
Like Haaland, Gio Reyna is also set to make his return to the Borussia Dortmund squad this weekend. The USMNT international spent five months on the sidelines earlier this season and suffered another thigh injury on his return to the starting XI last month. And the Black and Yellows will want to ensure that they do not rush his return to action.
