Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose said a few words regarding the BVB U-19s team during his press conference on Friday.

Ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s game against Arminia Bielefeld this Sunday, head coach Marco Rose touched on a number of topics, including the U-19s team. Rose spoke in glowing terms with regards to the talent Dortmund possess at youth level, but very much stressed that the jump between youth and senior football is immense:

"“The leap from youth football to professional football is incredibly big. That’s why we deliberately decided to have the U23s as an intermediate level.” – Marco Rose"

Even so, Rose was quick to point to a few players that could possibly make it into the first team in the near future. Among the names mentioned were Bradley Fink, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Tom Rothe.

"“I think we have a lot of interesting guys in the U19s. I’ve seen them play a few times. They are very mature and play with a focus on getting results. We have a super striker in Bradley Fink and a great one-on-one player in Bynoe-Gittens. He is very similar to Jadon Sancho. Tom Rothe is also a very physically strong defender.”"

The three players mentioned have indeed been putting together some very strong displays for Borussia Dortmund at youth level, and each of them plays a position that the club are either short on quality options or will soon need more reinforcements in at senior level depending on how the summer transfer window goes.

Bynoe-Gittens is a player that the first team could very much benefit from considering that the club haven’t properly replaced Jadon Sancho since his departure. Fink could play a role in Dortmund’s attack next season should Erling Haaland depart and Youssoufa Moukoko go out on loan. Rothe would also be a good depth option at right back and could also develop into the team’s mainstay starter given adequate game-time.

During the press conference, Rose mentioned that Bynoe-Gittens would certainly be part of Dortmund’s summer preparations, and that the likes of Rothe and Fink could also spend the summer training with the senior squad. Many Dortmund fans have been excited to see some of these faces at the top level and it seems like they will get their chance to show what they can do with the first team in the near future.
