Felix Passlack (5/10)

Passlack put in another hard working shift for his side. Burkardt and Onisiwo caused him a few problems, but he looked up to the task for the most part. He did not offer much going forward, and Dortmund’s attacking play seemed non-existent from the right flank for much of the game.

Emre Can (7/10)

Emre Can was Borussia Dortmund’s best player in the first half and made a couple of really important challenges to prevent Mainz from taking the lead. His solid work continued in the second half as well, even if his decision making wasn’t always the best.

Marin Pongracic (6/10)

Pongracic delivered a fairly decent performance over the course of the 90 minutes. Like Can, the Croatian international was resolute in the first half and made a number of vital interceptions for his side. He wasn’t too involved in the build-up play, but helped his team get the job done on the defensive side of things.

Nico Schulz (5/10)

Schulz made some really good forward runs and tried to make things happen for his side. He set up a couple of decent openings for his teammates, but they did not amount to anything in the end. But his performance certainly wasn’t without mistakes, as his giveaway nearly resulted in a really good chance for Mainz.
