Borussia Dortmund set to welcome 81,365 fans to the stadium vs RB Leipzig
Borussia Dortmund look set to have a full stadium for the first time since the pandemic started. The club has revealed that 81,365 tickets have been sold for their clash against RB Leipzig on April 2.
The wait is finally over and Borussia Dortmund will have a packed stadium once again on Saturday. After more than two years of playing in front of no or limited number of supporters at the stadium, the Black and Yellows will welcome 81,365 fans to the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.
The return of fans in these numbers is a welcome sign for both players and fans alike. One of the most important facets of the Westfalenstadion has always been the rapturous support and the overall atmosphere that Borussia Dortmund games have become famous for.
The Yellow Wall is one of the most beautiful examples of support and choreography in the football world. The noise that 80,000+ fans can generate makes for an electric atmosphere at every home game. The fans are the cornerstone of the club, and it will be a welcome sight to see them back again in big numbers.
This atmosphere has also been lacking on the players’ parts as well. The Yellow Wall has more than once been considered the 12th man for Dortmund, and the lack of fans in the stadium has categorically taken a toll on the team’s performances over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. The crowd is often able to spur the team forward and give them an extra lift, and the players will no doubt be excited to welcome the fans back.
Having a full stadium will hopefully give the team the lift they need to overcome Leipzig in this weekend’s game. Borussia Dortmund go into the game 12 points clear of Leipzig and will be looking to extend that gap between themselves and one of their more fierce competitors in the league in recent seasons.
