Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig team news: Erling Haaland a major doubt
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund may well have to make do without Erling Haaland as they take on RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga this weekend.
Borussia Dortmund are set to play in front of a packed Signal Iduna Park for the first time in more than two years this weekend. The Black and Yellows will have 81,365 fans in attendance for their crunch Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig.
Saturday promises to be a special day for Borussia Dortmund, and Marco Rose’s side will certainly be determined to mark the occasion with a win over RB Leipzig.
Borussia Dortmund look set to welcome Marco Reus, Youssoufa Moukoko and Mahmoud Dahoud back into the squad for Saturday’s game. But Erling Haaland is a major doubt after picking up an injury while on international duty with Norway earlier this week.
Marco Rose said during his pre-match press conference that Haaland’s foot is still swollen. And while the striker absolutely wants to play, he is questionable for Saturday’s game.
It also remains to be seen whether Gio Reyna will be able to start against RB Leipzig. The attacking midfielder helped the USMNT qualify for the World Cup on Wednesday evening and will only get one training session with the team to prepare for Saturday’s game.
RB Leipzig are set to be without Amadou Haidara and Yussuf Poulsen on Saturday after the duo picked up injuries on international duty. Péter Gulácsi is also a doubt due to a groin issue. Christopher Nkunku will be looking to continue his fine run of form, fresh after making his debut for France.
RB Leipzig have suffered just one defeat in 2022, and are currently fourth in the Bundesliga standings.
