Report: Borussia Dortmund keeping tabs on highly rated Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka
Borussia Dortmund are said to be keeping tabs on Carney Chukwuemeka, who is considered to be one of the most exciting young players in the English Premier League.
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly monitoring the progress of highly rated Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka. This is being reported by the Daily Mail, who add that the BVB bosses believe he can follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham. German outlet Der Westen also reported about Dortmund’s interest in Chukwuemeka earlier this month.
Chukwuemeka’s contract with Aston Villa is set to expire at the end of next season, and manager Steven Gerrard revealed recently that not much progress has been made over a new deal. A number of top European clubs are said to be eyeing a move for the 18 year old, including Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Chukwuemeka made his English Premier League debut towards the end of last season, but has only been used sporadically in the first-team since then. It was reported in November that the midfielder has grown frustrated at Aston Villa due to his lack of playing time in the senior team.
The last of Chukwuemeka’s 13 first-team appearances for Aston Villa came as a substitute in the game against Newcastle United in February. And he could now look to leave Aston Villa.
Chukwuemeka, who came through the ranks at Aston Villa, is also an England U-19s international. He is primarily a central midfielder, but is also capable of playing in the number ten role.
