Borussia Dortmund reportedly keeping tabs on Köln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri

Borussia Dortmund are said to be keeping an eye on FC Köln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri as they look to replace the outgoing Axel Witsel.
Signing a new defensive midfielder is said to be high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of priorities for the summer transfer window. With Axel Witsel’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Black and Yellows are looking for a new number six to shore up their midfield.
One player who is said to be on their list of targets to replace Witsel is Ellyes Skhiri. Sky Sport claim that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing him. Skhiri is likely to leave Köln in the summer with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.
The report adds that the BVB bosses are yet to hold any concrete negotiations with the 26 year old’s camp. But he is seen as someone who can bolster their defensive midfield.
Borussia Dortmund could face some competition for the signature of Skhiri, with Sky claiming that Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in signing him.
Skhiri is enjoying another impressive season with FC Köln. The Tunisia international has made 16 appearances so far this season for the Billy Goats, and also has four goals to his name.
Borussia Dortmund are set for a busy summer transfer window with several areas in need of an overhaul. And it will be interesting to see how Sebastian Kehl and co. go about their business ahead of the start of next season.
