Shinji Kagawa

Shinji Kagawa joined Borussia Dortmund before the 2010/2011 season and became an instant fan favorite. From his cheerful demeanor to his feats on the field he was loved by Dortmund fans. Kagawa was a key part of the Dortmund’s back to back Bundesliga titles in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 including the German double in 2012. Unfortunately the German double marked the end of Kagawa’s first spell with Dortmund. Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United came calling and he made the move to the Premier League.

Kagawa’s career did not pan out the way he wanted, starting a long downward trend once he moved to the EPL. He struggled with both fitness and game time and ended up leaving after only two seasons to head back to Borussia Dortmund. Looking back, Kagawa definitely left the club a bit too early and didn’t seem to be 100% ready for the move to England.
