Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele rounds out our list of players who left Dortmund too early. Everyone knows the story of Dortmund refusing to sell Dembele to Barcelona, so then Dembele went on strike to force a move to the Spanish side. He has been pretty much unanimously hated by Dortmund fans ever since and rightly so. Although he is only 22, so the jury is obviously still out on the long term results of the move. The short term is wildly in Dortmund’s favour, and very harsh for Dembele.

Leaving Dortmund Dembele was one of the brightest prospects in all of football. In the two and a half years since leaving he has made no real impact in Spain, with his time there being riddled with injuries. The irony of the situation is that because of Dembele’s strike from training to force his move through, he wasn’t fit upon joining Barca.

That resulted in a quick injury that started a long line of injuries that have kept him out of the lineup for a significant amounts of time. Dortmund made out with €105 Million + bonuses for a player who has only made 51 appearances over the course of almost three seasons.
