Emre Can (2/10)

Can had an evening to forget and his decision making, especially in the first half left a lot to be desired. Playing on the right of a back three, Can unnecessarily gave the ball away inside the Dortmund half before Leipzig’s opening goal. He was a bit unlucky with the deflection for Leipzig’s second goal.

He did well to keep the ball in play and set up Malen’s goal late on. But the assist did little to mask another disappointing performance from Can in yet another big game.

Manuel Akanji (4/10)

Akanji was beaten too easily by Laimer’s back-heel before Leipzig’s third goal. Overall, the Swiss international did not make any big mistakes. But neither was he able to prevent Dortmund’s defence from looking amateurish at times.

Mats Hummels (4/10)

Hummels played a gorgeous long ball to find Marco Reus early on. But he was forced to chase Leipzig bodies for the majority of the 90 minutes after that. He was nowhere to be found in the build-up to Leipzig’s two second half goals.
