The need for change is evident in the Borussia Dortmund camp, and those in charge are already preparing to overhaul the squad in the summer transfer window. A number of regular starters could be sold in the summer, including Emre Can.
According to BILD, Borussia Dortmund are ready to part ways with Emre Can in the summer. And if they receive a suitable offer, they would be willing to sell him.
Can has been a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund since joining the club from Juventus on an initial loan deal in January 2020. He made an encouraging start to life in Dortmund. But his lack of consistency has made him a polarising figure among the BVB supporters in recent months.
The German international is also prone to making costly errors, especially in big games. His most recent high profile mistake came in the lead-up to RB Leipzig’s first goal at the weekend, as Borussia Dortmund slumped to a damaging 4-1 defeat at home.
Can has been used in a variety of different positions during his time at Borussia Dortmund. He has made a total of 23 appearances so far this season, playing at centre-back, right-back, left-back and in defensive midfield.
Can still has more than two years left on his BVB contract. The 28 year old is someone who could generate a fair bit of interest from other clubs. His versatility would make him a useful addition to most teams.
