Tottenham Hotspur considering move for Borussia Dortmund target Nico Schlotterbeck
Borussia Dortmund could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of SC Freiburg centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a left-sided centre-back and Nico Schlotterbeck is said to be one of the names on their list of targets. This is being reported by the Athletic, who list Sven Botman, Alessandro Bastoni and Joško Gvardiol as the other names Spurs are considering.
Schlotterbeck is one of Borussia Dortmund’s top targets for the summer transfer window. And it was reported recently that the BVB bosses have already held talks with the SC Freiburg centre-back regarding a potential move to Dortmund.
Schlotterbeck appears set to leave SC Freiburg this summer for a fee in the region of 20-25 million euros. And Sky Sport revealed earlier this week that the 22 year old is keen on a move to Borussia Dortmund.
The Black and Yellows want Schlotterbeck to replace Manuel Akanji, who is being linked with a move to Manchester United. With the Swiss international’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, the likelihood is that he will leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Schlotterbeck is enjoying an impressive breakthrough campaign with Freiburg, and has been one of the Bundesliga’s best performers this season. The German international has played a crucial role in Freiburg’s success this season, with Christian Streich’s side currently fifth in the Bundesliga standings and also in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal.
Nico Schlotterbeck has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent months, but Borussia Dortmund appear to be the favourites for his signature at the moment.
