Borussia Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff scored a stunning goal for Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday as they held FC Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League.

Ansgar Knauff continued his impressive run of form on Thursday evening as he helped Eintracht Frankfurt earn a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarterfinal against FC Barcelona. The Borussia Dortmund loanee found the back of the net with a stunning strike from the edge of the box to give Eintracht the lead.

It was an excellent finish from Knauff, who celebrated his second goal for the Eagles having joined the club on loan in January. The ball fell to Knauff on the edge of the Eintracht Frankfurt box following a corner. He controlled the ball beautifully with an excellent first touch, before thumping it into the corner of the net on the half-volley.

Ferran Torres capped off a lovely team move to equalise for FC Barcelona in the 66th minute. But the Spanish giants weren’t able to find a late winner even though Eintracht Frankfurt were forced to end the game with ten men after Tuta was sent off. The game is well poised heading into next week’s second leg at the Camp Nou.

Knauff is enjoying an impressive loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt and has already made ten appearances for them. Borussia Dortmund are keeping a close eye on the Germany U-21s international’s development in Frankfurt. And the plan is for him to return to Dortmund at the end of his loan spell in 2023.
