Bundesliga Matchday 29 Roundup: Union Berlin thrash rivals Hertha; Köln pull off stunning comeback win

Union Berlin claimed the bragging rights over local rivals Hertha once again, while Christopher Nkunku continued his excellent run of form, and Köln came from two goals down to beat Mainz on matchday 29 of the Bundesliga season.
Union Berlin came out on top against local rivals Hertha BSC once again, as they claimed a stunning 4-1 win in the Berlin derby. Genki Haraguchi, Grischa Prömel, Sheraldo Becker and Sven Michel were all on target for Urs Fischer’s side, as they heaped more misery on the struggling Hertha Berlin.
FC Köln pulled off an incredible comeback against Mainz 05, overcoming a two goal deficit to earn a 3-2 win. Mainz took a two goal lead thanks to goals from Jonathan Burkardt and Karim Onisiwo either side of half time. But Ellyes Skhiri and Dejan Ljubicic brought the Billy Goats back on level terms, before Luca Kilian completed the stunning turnaround in the 82nd minute.
Bayern Munich maintained their nine point cushion at the top of the Bundesliga standings with a narrow win over FC Augsburg. Robert Lewandowski scored an 82nd minute penalty to extend his lead at the top of leading scorers charts in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig continued their excellent run of form as they cruised to a 3-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim. Christopher Nkunku, Marcel Halstenberg and Dominik Szoboszlai were all on the scoresheet as Domenico Tedesco’s side moved to within one point of third placed Bayer Leverkusen. Die Werkself were held to a goalless draw by VfL Bochum.
SC Freiburg claimed a vital 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt to boost their hopes of securing a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League. Vincenzo Grifo and Nils Petersen scored to help Christian Streich’s side open up a four point lead over sixth placed Hoffenhiem.
Borussia Dortmund saw off the challenge of VfB Stuttgart thanks to a brace from Julian Brandt. But there was more misfortunate for the Black and Yellows, as Gio Reyna, Mats Hummels and Mahmoud Dahoud all picked up injuries during the game.
VfL Wolfsburg ended their run of three straight defeats with a 4-0 thrashing of Arminia Bielefeld. Lukas Nmecha scored a brace, before Maximilian Arnold and Max Kruse made sure of the result in the second half.
Borussia Mönchengladbach made it three wins in four as they claimed a 2-0 win away to Greuther Fürth. Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea were both on target for the Foals.
